I’ve mentioned that we are working on my love song, “Always Today.” Well, the process goes on. We recorded my clarinet part and the track is finished. Now all I’ve got to do is record a new lead vocal to replace my existing vocal. Then the fun really begins with mixing the tracks and mastering the final mix. I’d like to release this song in the near future, but these things can’t be rushed. It’ll be ready when it’s ready.

My management service recently acquired some baseball caps with my logo. They’ll be available at my gigs for $15. We will be placing them on my website where you’ll be able to purchase them directly.

There was a good turnout last Saturday night at “Cork It!”, and my four sets were over with before I knew it. It was one of those nights when everything just “clicked”. The audience was warm and attentive and gave good feelings back to me. One gentleman was interested in having me perform at his venue in Southlake so we exchanged business cards. I haven’t played Southlake since I first got back in the music business at the Classic Café. It would be nice to play that town again.

This coming Thursday I’ll be back at, “Into the Glass” in Grapevine, from 7 to 10. It’s been a good run since I started there in May of ‘05. It feels like a home gig. Wayne and all the staff are great to work with. Come on down if you’re able and say hi.

Recording "Always Today"

Last year I recorded acoustic guitar and vocals at FreeSpirit Studio in Dallas for my song, “Always Today”. Since then, I’ve decided to replace the lead vocal track, and I’ve been experimenting with some backup vocals.

Now, I like to whistle in some of my songs, but a good friend let me borrow her late father’s clarinet and tenor saxophone for which I’m working out parts to play on the bridge of the song. The last time I played the clarinet was in a “Junior Orchestra” performance in ‘68 when I soloed on, "When the Saints Go Marching In". I've never played sax before, and what a blast it is learning.

This coming Saturday (the 29th) at 8 PM, I’ll be performing at Cork it! In downtown Grapevine. Many of you may remember that I played there regularly the first year when they opened as “Tastings”, and it’s good to be working with the owners, Cindy & Scott, again.

By the way, their original “wine cards” are still valid so come on down if you can.

Well I’ve finally moved into an office in downtown Grapevine. It’s conveniently located near a couple of my regular venues, and its great having my own quiet place to write music, practice guitar and clarinet, or work on my recordings on my computer. I bought a Casio keyboard that has midi capability so I’m able to work out tunes and record directly to my computer which runs “Cakewalk Studio 8.5”.

End of Year Rap.

With the new year just days away, I’ve been thinking about years past and friends who have helped fill them. When I got into the music biz in ”˜02, Tom & Jan Melesky came to hear my songs on a regular basis at the Classic Cafe in Southlake, TX. They were also the first couple to ever dance while I performed. When they did, I remember thinking, “don’t screw up the beat.” Those were wonderful times. Now Tom & Jan are the owners of The Press Box Grill in Dallas, and I am honored and excited to perform for them once again this New Years Eve. I wish for you a joyous and prosperous 2011.
